What is the purpose of the spam, mainly from hotmail.com, which has no
subject title or message in the body.  I have started receiving so many
that I now filter out any incoming mail with a hotmail.com address.

I too have seen quite a few of these.
I've simply set procmail to dump anything with no subject.
