I've just had a chat with neill, and can now say [1] that BT retail appear to
have disconnected his phone line for some reason. He is currently in the
process of beating them with a big stick to get it re-activated.
Once the phone line is back and running, ADSL can be re-instated.
Sadly, BT don't allow rental of dry copper for running ADSL over, even though
it is technically possible (indeed, this is what easynet and other OLOs
including ourselfs do)..
