[LUG] KDE3 on Debian
I'm running Debian Unstable on my laptop, so far without any stability
problems I might add, but I'd like to use KDE3 instead of Gnome. As far
as I can tell, there isn't any version of KDE currently installed. When
I type "apt-get install kde", it says:
   debian:/usr/bin# apt-get install kde
   Reading Package Lists... Done
   Building Dependency Tree... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
   that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
kde: Depends: kdelibs3 but it is not going to be installed
          Depends: libkmid or
libkmid-alsa but it is not going to be installed or
libkmid-bin but it is not installable
Depends: kdebase but it is not going to be installed or
kdebase3 but it is not installable
And so on, for lots of packages. I've trawled the 'Net but haven't
found anything particularly helfpul; everything I try results in similar
error messages :-(
TIA,
Jon
