Jon, but you will get better results if you provide a bit more information.
PCI modems are notoriously difficult to run under Linux, anyway, but my
personal reaction to your problem was that I had no frame of reference
upon which to comment (despite the fact that I *have* successfully got
such a device running before!).
If you specify the exact procedure you are trying to follow, odds are
someone will have done it before and be able to put you straight.
Including version numbers and error messages tends to get people's
brains moving!
I know it is a bit defeat-ist (sp?) but, frankly, is it worth the hassle
when for twenty quid you can get a serial device that you can just
plug in and away you go?
FWIW, I bought such an item in Cassie's Computer Shop (formerly in the
Armada Centre) and I have had absolutely no problems with it whatsoever
under RH, Debian or WinNT.
