I partitioned a small hdd using cfdisk. Why are the partitions called hda5, hda6 and hda7 (and not hda1, hda2 and hda3).
It's put everything into an "extended partition". Annoying, but harmless.
Also, hda6 is swap space. How easy is it to remove hda7 and merge it with hda5.
Depends whether they're contiguous. If the disc has only just been partitioned, would it hurt to go back and start again, perhaps using fdisk to give you more control instead of having it second-guess you? -- Nick Kew -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG Mail majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxx with "unsubscribe list" in the message body to unsubscribe.
