Ah, don't tend to use that either.  Seems curious that using a different 
installer would/would not install an automounter though...

I have plenty of fun fighting with solaris' volmgt most of the time, dont 
bother with that stuff under linux.

Never bothered with it as such. Create the partitions - format, newfs, mount
and then leave it :-)

Well yes, but by default volmgt handles CDs and floppies (not that I've 
had occasion to use a floppy on a sun in years).  It's fine when it works 
:)
