To be honest I've never bothered with script-based logins - too much hassle.


I just set up pppd, pop my account details in /etc/ppp/pap-secrets and /etc/ppp/chap-secrets and let it deal with it :-) It's simple. It works. By and large it works cross-platform too - I can use much the same options and scripts on OpenBSD and Linux.


skipping authentication. I never got kppp authentication to tie

This is why I never used anything but pppd :-)
