I admit that it is not going to win a W3C tick badge but there is 
no reason that any compliant browser should not display the output of 
my sample script [tests...yeah].

Thanks to everyone who has contributed their opinions on this 
problem; it has just occurred to me what I am doing wrong and I am 
ashamed to admit what it is :(
