[LUG] Debian & i810 video chipset

I've been wanting to install debian for a while now
but last time I tried I couldn't get it to work.

Apparently to get it function with the i810 videocard
chipset requires rebuilding the kernel (far too scary
for me!).

Anybody know if more recent versions can support i810
without a rebuild?
