Re: [LUG] Wireless Broadband Router

Had a totally trouble free installation with linux/win 98 network - most our 5 computers dual or triple booting using LINKSYS wireless-g WAG54G although it has to be said we are not really using the wireless capabilities very much - most of our network being wired.

I couldn't believe how simple it was, plug it in, minor bit of configuring of the router, minor bit of network reconfiguration to make the router the DHCP server and it all just worked!!

Subject: [LUG] Wireless Broadband Router

Hi all,
I'm looking into wirelessly networking my home computers and laptop, and have been looking at the various options.

This would be the first network I've set up, and would appreciate any guidance or suggestions as to what a good make or model wireless broadband router would be.

What I'm trying to network is  2 desktops (one newer running Windows XP [family], an older one running mdk10 [mine]) and a laptop (running windows 95, because it doesn't have a cd drive I can't change that). So, ideally whatever I buy would connect these 3 machines with minimum fuss. As windows compatibility can be assumed in most cases I'm more interested in finding routers that support linux, and handle multi-OS networks easily. I'm not against buying books, and will buy some books on networking at some point, but I need to stop myself buying books faster than I read them ;) so for now I'm going on what online research I've done.

TIA
Chris
