I want to run a mail server on a dedicated internet server at Rackspace. I need: SMTP send & receive (of course) Mail forwarding POP3 mailboxes (with catchall) Web Mail Can anyone suggest a (set of) program(s) to implement this?Without hesitation I have to say qmail, I have run it in a school with many users and few problems.
Ick, personally I'd use either Exim or Postfix with the Cyrus POP3 server, not sure about webmail though, Squirrelmail?[1] I'd even use sendmail in preference to qmail Checking what the default config of the dedicated servers Rackspace offer would be the best first step though, as they will probably be set up with sane defaults. [1] Not even sure if that is a webmail server TBH - -- James jamesk[at]homeric[dot]co[dot]uk Eat drink and be merry, for tomorrow they may make it illegal. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.5 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Processed by Mailcrypt 3.5.8 <http://mailcrypt.sourceforge.net/> iD8DBQFBEoFhqfSmHkD6LvoRAkQ2AKCLbAOYRhaYeq52iwvOCFhDkIWjQQCdHlEn bHXfVOKQDl02xds3sgbWHDk= =7gV0 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG Mail majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxx with "unsubscribe list" in the message body to unsubscribe.
