Can't see why not. (The mission statement hasn't even been discussed here
since it was cribbed from the original DCLUG termisoc site.) We already have
a history of links with Plymouth and Exeter Universities. It's a case of
moving down the chain - catch 'em young!

Start with getting them to understand that their IT infrastructure can already
support Linux and not to penalise those who want to use it. The problems are
mainly fear and ignorance - but there are already people on DCLUG who run IT
installations for schools and colleges in D&C, so that's where to start.
Nothing convinces people like a working example.

I can't offer to volunteer personally, but I will endeavour to add any
documentation or content to the website that you might need. If those who
currently work in school/college IT roles would like to send me ideas /
presentations / HOWTO's / experiences etc., I'll set it up.

(That goes for any other section of the site too, BTW, if anyone has ideas or
content for any section of the site, you only have to let me know. Ta.)

Wouldn't schools appreciate a more local touch?

Every IT installation is a legitimate area for promoting Linux.
A Tux on every desk, anyone?
;-)

Target may be the wrong word.

I wish we could lose that disclaimer - it's all over the archive.
