[LUG] Dial-up using kppp 2

I tried changing original the consolehelper permissions using
# chmod u+s /usr/bin/consolehelper
from -rwxr-xr-x to -rwsr-xr-x but it wouldn't execute.

Adding "auth sufficient /lib/security/pam_console.so" to 
"/etc/pam.d/kppp" only seems to make me temporarilly root I would bee 
too worried that I would  change something while I was root and mess 
everything up (again).
