[LUG] GNOME Settings Daemon

I am running Mandrake 9.1 and using the Gnome interface. For some reason 
unkown to me I am now getting an Error window every time I log on. The 
window contains the following:

"There was an error starting the GNOME Settings Daemon.
................................
The Settings Daemon restarted too many times.
The last error message was:
Failed to execute gnome-settings-daemon: 2 (No such file or directory)"

Can someone please tell me what has gone wrong here and how to put 
things right? I should add that when I close the error window everything 
works correctly as far as I can tell.
