on Konqueror/KDE 3.1.1

cd /opt/kde3/share/services/useragentstrings/
cp ie60onwinnt51.desktop ie60oncurrent.desktop
vim ie60oncurrent.desktop
edit line 2 to look something like "Name=UADescription (IE 6.0 on Linux)"
edit last half dozen lines to look something like the following:
X-KDE-UA-TAG=IE
X-KDE-UA-FULL=Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Linux)
X-KDE-UA-NAME=Internet Explorer
X-KDE-UA-VERSION=6.0
X-KDE-UA-SYSNAME=Linux
X-KDE-UA-SYSRELEASE=2.4
Reload Konqui and select your new UA string
verify it somewhere like: http://webtips.dantobias.com/cgi-bin/browser.pl
