Re: [LUG] Using USB

I have a USB webcam working in linux, solid as a rock.. also my mouse is USB too.. the usb module i use is usb-ohci, yea.. it's a bit big.. (6mb ish) but it works. As for camera recomendations, I cna't really help you there... but do a search on google for linux webcam and see who has webcams.. and who has had what preoblems with them.

I know some webcams use smart media, and a USB smartchip reader that frequently can be used to display on to a TV too..

The other cameras i have loked at, also allow the camera to be used as a webcam, one such example of this is a creative webcam go plus (i have one.. can't get it working in linux)

Hi there,

as far as I know my computer does not have a USB card, though I could
add one.

My main reason is that I would like to get a digital camera and it seems
that all modern ones need USB.

I am using Mandrake v 9.

Any suggetions, warnings, advice etc would be welcome.

TIA

Neil
