Greetings. I'm a long way from Devon, and even further from Cornwall, living as I do on the Wiltshire edge of Somerset, but as far as I can tell DCLUG and SWLUG are the nearest LUGs to me that have mailing-lists. I'm 38; my educational background is in Music and Ancient Literature, and I'm years behind the times in computing. My first PC was an Elonex 286 with a gigantic 40Mb disk and a speedy 12MHz processor - which unfortunately I didn't acquire until 1997, when it was just a wee bit out of date. I'm still behind the times: I'm currently using a P100 with 64Mb RAM and 5Gb of disk space shared between three drives. But since all I use it for is writing annoying text files and posting annoying messages to Usenet, it's good enough. After switching from Win98 via Mandrake 9.0 late last year I'm now using Debian 3.0 and gradually falling in love with it. I also have Linux From Scratch installed on the slowest of my three disks, and I'm hoping to switch to it as my principal OS when I've learned a lot more than I currently know. As if that weren't enough to impress you, I'm tall, dark and handsome, and have written three untruths just after the first comma in this sentence.
