The Natwest one I found amusing is I can only transfer money at
Natwest on normal banking days.

My guess is that they built all the old systems with 9 to 5
opening hours in mind, and providing 24x7 IT systems is as we
all know much harder and more expensive than 9 to 5, requiring a
different approach to maintenance, and in needed scheduled down
time (i.e. contact everyone who already scheduled a transfer to
run on the day on our upgrade).

I lesson in planning availability, somewhere.
