Nothing. Box was running Mandrake 8.1 (Kernel 2.4.8) for ages with no
problems. Can't remember when I switched it to debian.

Found some stuff on google to do with APM, but while APM is available in
the debian stock kernels, its disabled by default.

The disk is a lovely Maxtor 60GB one, and its not that old, maybe a year
or so, so I don't think thats the problem.
