That'll be the Unicode one I couldn't be arsed to look up:-)

&trade, but &trade doesn't seem to work anywhere).

Indeed, I've seen that on the Web, but as you say browser support
leaves something to be desired (and as has already been pointed out,
I misremembered it in my first post).

Although 153, and 174 work find on this Linux box, trust Nick to
know about RiscOs.

Me? No, I just know a little about character encodings. The fact
that Windoze and RiscOS have *different* characters assigned to a set
of undefined entities (which they are perfectly entitled to do internally,
just as they could use EBCDIC) is a classic example of why you can't
use undefined entities and expect to be interoperable.

All map to "[tm]" rather than a symbol, which gives another
simpler alternative ;)

But that alternative would preclude getting the benefit of a standards-
compliant browser doing a better job.

(I have a RiscOS box bought back in '87 - which is exactly when I first
got on the 'net - but alas it has declined to boot for several years now).
