So what can companies of medium size get as alternatives to whatever MS 
demands for business solutions?

They need to know by 31 july this year - 2 months.

The actual changeover and full implementation though can take another couple 
of years...

So, business desktop not MS' windowed GUI and OS
Middle range software also on *n?x
