Re: [LUG] good or bad?

mind you - there may be a possibility.

AOL want everybody online, that's how they make money - but people have problems with windows based PC's or in fact most PC's. they are not really a consumer device after all. i mean - don't forget how some people view a PC. i know someone recently who could not close a program because the window had been dragged a little to the right - so the window buttons were of the desktop - and i mean - they were stuck - on the phone for help sort of thing.

what if AOL bring out a PC format device - with a dead simple desktop - maybe just like the AOL program - big simple clear buttons marked 'web' and 'email' etc. - something like that bush TV thing - but monitor type screen resolution. it would have to be rock-solid stable and secure. cheap to produce - free upgrades/security fixes - in fact automatic upgrades/security fixes via the phone/ADSL link.

they would have to configure the desktop to their own design - and automatically upgrade it when necessary. also they would want to tweak the OS - make sure there were no security problems etc.

now - (scratches chin) - i wonder which OS would be best for this device :o)

what if...
