Re: [LUG] Just Curious?

My current spec is as follows

AMD K6/2 500 (runs at almost 1000 bogomips)
256 mb pc 100
10.2 gb harddisk + 2mb cache, 5mb is being used for Linux
Voodoo banshee 16mb graphics
External modem
epson 680 printer

dlink network card, not sure if this works, under linux (well set up and
working), I can sort of communicate with my laptop running XP except it's
real difficult finding where MS have hidden the network computers etc.
(network neiborhood is much better)

Suse 7.3

USE - at present just playing and learning c as kdevelop looks really
professional now, it stable also, and I can run console apps in a small
command shell box as part of the IDE.

Hope this helps

Paul

Subject: [LUG] Just Curious?

We see countless examples of linux running on various old machines but
out of interest what sort of spec
computer do group members have there favourite flavour of linux running
on?

Does anyone besides myself use it as a standalone workstation on newer
hardware?

Me vital stats are .....

Gigabyte Ga7zxr Mainboard with Duron1200(pr 1600+)
512megs pc133
Geforce 3 ti200(abit siluro)nvidia glx drivers.
Twin Maxtor UDMA100 ide drive 80gig ,plenty of room for home directory ;)
Herc 4.1 sound (cm 8738)alsa
M/S natural pro keyboard, all things being equal M$ make a fine keyboard
M/S usb optical
17in Samsung dynaflat monitor
Cyberdrive 12x DVD
Liteon 24x10x40 burnproof

2398.61 bogomips.
