hi there, personally i would stick to the tried and tested ext2 - i found 'dump' did not work with reiserfs - and there may be some other unwanted surprises. A journaling filesystem is mainly of use on very large, critical servers because it keeps a record of which files were open - so if the server suffers a power cut the system does not check the whole drive when it restarts - only the files which were open. probably not neccesary for home use, kev >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Original Message <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< On 11/30/01, 12:44:36 PM, Alex Charrett <alex@xxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote regarding Re: [LUG] Re: Cannot ./configure permission denied: > On Fri, 30 Nov 2001, Kelly Jones wrote: > > Perhaps i will reformat it as ext2 or maybe 3 (whats the difference????) > Journaling. > -- > The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG > Mail majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxx with "unsubscribe list" in the > message body to unsubscribe. -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG Mail majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxx with "unsubscribe list" in the message body to unsubscribe.
