[LUG] Argh

Demon have been having fun this weekend.

However I discovered a new way to bring down my Internet
connection CVS client/server.

On attempting to import some files to CVS, the cvs process
grabbed a couple of hundred meagabytes of RAM.

Sometime in the process - when real memory is exhausted I think
- a running ping process will stop responding.

When the cvs process is killed (Ctrl - C), the connection is
still dead (Cannot ping other end) and I must "ifdown ppp0 ;
ifup ppp0"

Anyone else see memory exhaustion causing this? Could be a
timeout issue if the response is slow enough is all I can think
of, but no time out messages are logged.

I wouldn't mind as much if it logged an error, dropped the
connection gracefully etc etc. But it looks like it is all
working till you ping or otherwise send packets.

2.2.19 kernel pppd 2.3.11
