Huh?  Oh.. Are you using 8.2 personal edition?  The Professional edition 
has all these as standard.

If you edit /etc/hosts on each machine to include the IP addresses and 
names of each machine on the network you will then be able to contact 
each machine by name rather than IP address - makes life easier.

If you think that your hub might be dodgy it might be useful to invest in 
a (i'm sure there is a proper name for this but can't remember) network 
lead with the connections reversed at one end.  This can used to directly 
connect two computers with no intervening hardware.  Good for testing.
